Our candidate in the Elmbridge Borough Council By-Election on Thursday 10th October 2024

Andrew says:  “We're lucky in Elmbridge to have a strong group of independent and resident association councillors who can act in the best interest of residents without party politics getting in the way.

As an Independent I will always put you and the area we all call home first.

I would be honoured to represent Weybridge St. George’s Hill ward and commit to be a hard-working, independent voice for all residents.”

More about Andrew and his  priorities:

Andrew has lived in the area all his life and looks forward to adding to his track record of eleven years’ previous experience as an Elmbridge Borough councillor.

During that time he worked to improve our borough, from enhancing local facilities to fighting inappropriate development, and helped residents resolve issues confronting them. Andrew sat on all the main council committees and served as Cabinet Member for Planning.  With this experience he will be able to get stuck in straight away helping residents in our ward and contributing to Elmbridge Council business.

Andrew hopes, with the help of your vote, to join the team of two hard-working and committed local champions - Peter Harman and Pippa Graeme.  Just two contrasting examples of the many things they have achieved are – firstly, their successful campaign for the much needed HGV weight restriction from Church Street and down Brooklands Road to stop the day and night disturbance by articulated lorries and, secondly, their work on improving customer facilities at the station including the much appreciated changes to the waiting room there. This comes from listening to residents and acting to improve local life and amenities. As Independents, their sole concern is to achieve the best for this area.

An information rights professional for the Civil Service, Andrew splits his time between working from home and commuting to London. His work means he’s committed to openness and transparency in all levels of government.  He has previously served on the Local Citizens’ Advice Bureau Trustee Board and the Cecil Hepworth Playhouse Users’ Committee. Outside of work and local politics, Andrew is a passionate and very frequent theatregoer.

With his council experience and commitment to our area Andrew is excited to have to the chance to represent the ward and promoting the interests of all residents, local businesses and organisations.
